Please register your intention to submit an essay contribution to the book by 8 March 2012

WHAT’S THIS INITIATIVE ABOUT?

40,000 Words is an initiative from the WE Alliance, a global collaborative group of social entrepreneurs in women’s empowerment (*) initiated by http://Ashoka.org in June 2011.

The purpose is to co-create a collaborative digital book, to achieve a collective global impact in multiple layers, including:

- Launching the WE Alliance online with a global online dialogue around cross-gender empathy

- Co-creating a meaningful historical artifact through a concrete global collaboration

- Engaging our members and their supporters around a common global campaign, and

- Raising operational funds to support WE Alliance collaborations, our member projects, and their online allies through a revenue sharing online sales strategy.

WHO ELSE IS GETTING INVOLVED?

WE Alliance member innovators around the world are strategically seeking 100+ culturally diverse submissions from male and female writers in the following categories:

- Established bloggers
- Journalists/thought & business leaders
- Youth (ages 12-20) and
- others (especially men) whose perspectives will add value to the book.

Once you pre-register with the form below, you will receive a follow-up message with super simple instructions for sending in your submission by email, and some other cool info about the book you’ll want to know.

2. You may write in English OR in your native language

3. You are welcome to publish your essay on your own website if you have one, even before the book is launched (ideally in honor of International Women’s Day on March 8!), and to let your readers know that the book will be available at the end of April 2012. All we ask is that you email us the link so we can use it to help build some buzz.

Means & Ends - Collaboration & Impact
A dear colleague introduced me to the Pollyanna Principles. Simple, clear, worth sharing that triggered my thinking about the subject I am devoted these days to: achieving impact at scale through collaborations.
I will come with more thoughts soon, in the meantime let´s grasp these principles

The Ends
# 1
We accomplish what we hold ourselves accountable for.
# 2
Each and every one of us is creating the future, every day, whether we do so consciously or not.
The Means
# 3
Everyone and everything is interconnected and interdependent, whether we acknowledge that or not.
# 4
“Being the change we want to see” means walking the talk of our values.
# 5
Strength builds upon our strengths, not our weaknesses.
# 6
Individuals will go where systems lead them.

    Thanks 2011 ... Welcome 2012

    GRATITUDE  A minute to think
What did you learn this past year? What has life taught you?
Hey, you cannot reply that you didn´t learn anything because life is always teaching us.
Just remember how you were last year and how you are now. You will sure find something new. Perhaps now you can see things that you couldn´t see before, or you can appreciate things you previously couldn´t, or you can now understand things that you could not understand before.

    AN INVITATION TO ATTEND #we_b LAB @HUBBrussels on Jan. 14 - 2012

    Merry Christmas to you!
2011 comes to a close with a strong sense of certainty of interesting challenges in my professional life.
After almost a decade of work, I decided to step aside the Ashoka local office to develop my full potential beyond Argentina. To the date, I am focused in the scaling up of two pattern changing models of Ashoka fellows in Latin America, and with two collaborative alliances in innovation and impact in Europe and Asia.

A personal invitation from Carolina to you:
Besides thanking you  deeply for the shared year,  I want to invite you  to join me and my colleagues from  the Collective IMPACT x INNOVATION Institute (#ci2i)   on   Saturday 14th January 2012 in Brussels  (Belgium)  for an intimate co-creative dialogue about working across silos to accelerate collective social impact - in Europe and around the world.
The full description and invitation to this groundbreaking 1 day lab event is at http://bit.ly/invite2we_b.
I look forward to sharing a rich and productive day for the world, with the amazing individuals we are inviting to join us. My colleagues and I, who are each nurturing pieces of this global work forward, would  be honored with your high-impact voice and perspective present, in framing the planned global pipeline of ongoing conversations that the Brussels gathering on 14 January will shape.
    With gratitude,

Scaling up of the Employment with Support Model in Chile

The EcA - Employment with Support for its abbreviation in Spanish -  is a program of DISCAR Foundation that includes young people with intellectual disabilities to the formal workforce to favour their capacities and to aware society that people with disabilities can develop certain tasks effeciently and with good results.
Since 1991, in Argentina, young people from DISCAR have been employed by McDonald´s - Arcos Dorados -  in customer service, kitchen and cleaning tasks at its restaurants
In 2011, Arcos Dorados doubled down and decided to scale this sustainable social model in the region.
During 11 months we worked for Chile, chosen as pilot country for the 1st EcA scaling in Latin America.
As a specialist in scaling social impact & innovation, I accompany  designing the project stages, coordinating the implementation and systematizing the results. The outcome? A Manual for the Scaling up of the Employment with Support Model - EcA - for Arcos Dorados´markets in Latin America a log that will allow us to work on a secure base in the other countries of the region.
Together with McDonald´s and DISCAR we promote the paradigm that inclusion is a society commitment .

    Carolina

My innovation story ... keep on scaling up!

My professional story is a scaling up one, from its very beginning: as a teenager actively participating in various youth groups related to my  faith and sports, nurturing to scale innovation to other context of my life.
After obtaining a degree in Business Administration and having a great experience in local top banks  in 2002 I began working for Ashoka Argentina, building bridges between the social and the private sectors. I was responsible for an innovative networking funding initiative: engaging successful business people into a vibrant community of social investors who share their  know how, contacts and experiences with social entrepreneurs.
Since then I have been advising entrepreneurs, analyzing the best alternatives to leverage their social impact and I have been coordinating the scaling  of their social models.
Now I face the challenge to scale impact and innovation in Latin America while exploring new paths in collaborative alliances in Europe
I live in Buenos Aires, with my beloved family and I am definitely a process fan!

Welcome to my work and insights!
    With gratitude,
    Carolina
